My softball journey began at the age of 3, by 13 my parents began to allow me to sign up for college softball camps. I picked out a camp at a school I didn't know too much about, but I thought would be a good match for me. I liked the campus, and the opportunity to practice with D1 players in the Big XII intrigued me.
I didn't fully comprehend what I was about to experience. Surely, this would be another fun summer camp, right? This would be just another way to get reps in, and nothing too interesting was going to happen, right? I set up my dorm for the next few days, fully expecting this would be just another practice session with people I hadn't met before.
After we got settled in, we headed down to Getterman Stadium. I couldn't exactly describe how I was feeling, but I knew this camp was different. Coach Moore began the meeting with opening prayer explaining that his number one goal for the week was to teach us that God needs to be the foundation of everything that we do. It felt like for the first time in a long time, I was finally home.
I spent the next few days falling in love with Baylor University. Everything was exactly the way I had dreamt college experience would be: from the worship community, to the campus, to the student life; I had never felt more like I belonged.
Two years later, I was accepted into Baylor's Accelerate program. There was nothing I wanted more than to be a part of such an amazing community! This was the entryway into my involvement here at Baylor University. I would proceed to complete 21 Credit Hours through this program, all while juggling the advanced curriculum that Great Hearts Academies had to offer. Throughout this entire process, I was able to maintain a 4.18 GPA at the Great Hearts Academy and a 3.80 GPA at Baylor University.
Its been almost six years since I first discovered Baylor, and I'm 100% positive that this is where I want to spend my next four years. I couldn't imagine myself anywhere else, and as the first generation in my family to go to a University, I hope to make them proud and pave the way for my little sister.
